Time for a change

Updated: Apr 6, 2023

Change may be said to be the only constant in life and is inevitable. The impact it has on everyone differs, but will, at some point in life, happen. No one lives or does the same thing the same way every day, as things do change. Therefore learning how to adjust, thought sometimes difficult is important. Whether we like it or not, we will have to decide on how to embrace changes faced, we must recognize when the need to change comes. According to Charles Darwin “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Our very survival is based on our ability to adapt / respond appropriately to changes in our life. This we must approach with boldness and not fear.

Spencer Johnson, in his book, “Who Moved My Cheese?” stated “What you are afraid of is never as bad as what you imagine. The fear you let build up in your mind is worse than the situation that actually exists.” More often than not we belief that what is out there is worst that it actually is and become afraid of stepping out. When the pandemic hit everyone was asked to stay indoors because of the uncertainty of its impact one life. However, as time progressed we learned how to adjust realizing that things, thou challenging, were not as bad perceived. We learnt how to adjust to the “new norm” and forged ahead. Recognising the need for change and were able to navigate in a new environment with the changes that had taken place. Change is inevitable, we simply need to learn how to respond, develop strategic coping strategies while adapting to this ever changing world in which we live.
