Finding happiness

Think of a word that describes happiness. Would it be joyful, satisfied, content, fulfilled, that comes to mind? Happiness may be seen as an emotional state characterized by those words previously used. Happiness embraces positive emotions and situations and may manifest itself differently to individuals.
Happiness may seem like a farfetched concept or idea to some as there may be in essence a loss of joy in life, dissatisfaction, lack of contentment or not being fulfilled. However, it is always present, we simply need to learn how to embrace and hold onto it.
So why not consider these pathways to happiness.
1. Do things that engage you in a positive way which is meaningful bringing joy as they are being done.
2. Pay attention to those pleasurable movements in your life and hold onto them. Keep these moments at the forefront of your mind.
3. Learn to let go when someone hurts or have wronged you by embracing forgiveness. This allows you to release the resentment and anger you may have had towards that person.
4. When life offers you lemons, lemonade is not your only option, there is so much more that can be done with these. Learning how to develop various coping skills is often important in overcoming those difficult or traumatic moments in life.
5. The hymn “Count your many blessings name them one by one…” reminds us that we are blessed in many ways. Quite often, we fail to recognize how blessed we are in spite of challenges faced. Develop a positive mindset, a growth mindset and embrace the positive in life by expressing gratitude for what you have.
